Lover
Released in 2019, Taylor Swift’s seventh studio album Lover produced her most mixed reception to date. Shifting away from reputation‘s dark, gritty aesthetic, Lover displays bright pink and blue pastels, communicating Swift’s focus on love over grudges or retribution. In spite of some tremendously questionable single choices, Lover shines through its deep cuts, with Taylor’s ever sharp lyricism expressing the many different emotions that come with being deeply in love. It sold 867,000 copies in its first week.
